Netflix is putting more weight behind The Gentlemen. The streamer announced a wave of new casting for the third season of Guy Ritchie’s crime series, which has started production in the United Kingdom and Morocco, and the additions say a lot about where the show is headed.

Joining the series are Robert Carlyle, Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom, along with Dexter Fletcher, Bruna Marquezine, Ed Speleers, Saffron Burrows and rapper Bugzy Malone. The season runs eight episodes, with Ritchie writing alongside Matthew Read and sharing directing duties with Eran Creevy.

For Wood and Bloom, it is a genuine reunion. The two last shared a production more than twenty years ago, in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003), and Ritchie’s series now puts them back on the same call sheet in a completely different register: tailored suits, country houses and a drug empire run like a family business.

The casting also carries a small full-circle moment. Theo James, who leads the series as Eddie Horniman, has said in interviews that he wanted the show’s world to include an actor with old school Robert Carlyle energy. Netflix has now hired Carlyle himself, which sets up one of the more interesting pairings of the coming season: James’s controlled, buttoned-up Eddie against whatever Carlyle decides to unleash.

The returning core is intact. James and Kaya Scodelario are back as Eddie and Susie Glass, alongside Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Jasmine Blackborow, Michael Vu, Harry Goodwins, Ruby Sear, Pearce Quigley and Giancarlo Esposito’s season one scene partner in crime, with Hugh Bonneville among the more recent additions to the ensemble. Two chairs, however, look empty. Daniel Ings, who played Eddie’s chaotic older brother Freddy, is not expected back, and the announcement does not include Esposito, whose Stanley Johnston was the show’s smoothest threat.

Season three sends Eddie and Susie further from home. The pair are building a casino operation in the Middle East, a move that stretches Ritchie’s aristocratic crime world well beyond the estate walls and into new money, new rules and new enemies.

The timing underlines Netflix’s confidence. The third season was greenlit on August 24, 2026, nine days before season two even premiered on September 3, and production is already rolling. For a streamer that cancels freely, ordering a new season before the previous one airs is about as strong a vote as a series gets.

There is no release date yet, and reports earlier this year that Meghan Markle was in talks for a role came to nothing. What is clear is the shape of the thing: a returning ensemble that works, three major names added on top, and a story that keeps widening. For actors watching from the outside, The Gentlemen remains one of the best advertisements on television for what a deep bench can do. Every season, Ritchie casts like he is building a company, and season three’s company just got considerably more famous.
